Unlike in the United States, where high school varsity and junior varsity baseball programs boast almost 500,000 participants, high school baseball in Canada is non-existent in some provinces and a bit of an afterthought in most others – mostly due to the realities of weather.
What that means for baseball players in Canada is that progression in the sport during high school comes through various means including club teams, travel teams, baseball “academies”, provincial “all star” teams, and others.
