Atlantic Collegiate Baseball Association – 2021 – Week 3 Summary

Mother Nature was not in a cooperative mood this past weekend so only two Double-Headers were played, both on Saturday.

Dalhousie Tigers @ Acadia Axemen

In Game 1, Acadia beat Dal by a score of 11 to 3. The Acadia offense was led by Doug Hassell (3 for 4 with a Home Run, 4 RBI’s, and 2 Runs Scored) and Pat McWilliam (2 for 4 with a Double, 2 RBI’s, and a Run Scored). Jake MacKinnon pitched 6 innings for the Win in relief of Starter Keegan Gaskell, giving up 0 Earned Runs and 2 Hits while Walking 1, Striking Out 10, and throwing a total of 100 pitches. Acadia committed 2 Errors in the game. For Dal, Dylan Corsini led the way with 2 Hits and a Run Scored. Zack Bond, Aidan Rittenberg, and D Garinger each chipped in with a Hit of their own. Nick Manias took the Loss, giving up 5 Hits and 7 Earned Runs over 2 1/3 innings, while Walking 5, Striking Out 1, and throwing a total of 66 pitches. Dalhousie committed 2 Errors in the game.

In Game 2, Dalhousie came back with a big offensive output to beat Acadia 16 to 7. The Dal offense was led by Zack Bond (4 for 5 with a Double, 3 RBI’s, and 3 Runs Scored), Evan Dunbrille (3 for 4 with an RBI and 2 Runs Scored), Ben Widdecombe (2 for 3 with a Double, 2 Walks, an RBI, and 2 Runs Scored), and Ben Rittenburg (2 for 4 with 2 Doubles, a Walk, 5 RBI’s, and 2 Runs Scored). Garrett Windsor went 7 complete for the Win, giving up 3 Earned Runs and 6 Hits while Walking 1, Striking Out 4, and throwing a total of 102 pitches. Dal committed 3 Errors in the game. For Acadia, Jake MacKinnon led the offense going 3 for 3 with a Double, an RBI, and 2 Runs Scored while Kieran Finn (1 for 2 with a Double and 2 Runs Scored), Doug Hassell (1 for 3 with an RBI and a Run Scored), and Seth Routledge (1 for 3 with a Double and a Run Scored) chipped in as well. Reliever Cole Stevens took over from Starter Jacobie Ford and took the Loss, giving up 3 Hits and 5 Runs (only 1 Earned) over 1/3 of an inning, while Walking 2, Striking Out 1, and throwing a total of 33 pitches. Acadia committed 2 Errors in the game.

St. Mary’s Huskies @ St. Francis Xavier X-Men

In Game 1, STFX doubled-up SMU by a score of 4 to 2. The STFX offense was led by Kyle Moore (3 for 3), Dobson Boudreau (1 for 2 with a Walk and a Run Scored), Ewan Galloway (1 for 3 with a Double and 2 RBI’s), Lucas Fraser (1 for 3 with a Walk and a Run Scored), and Jack Walsh (1 for 3 with an RBI). Brett Baxter went 7 complete for the Win, giving up 2 Earned Runs and 7 Hits while Walking 2, Striking Out 3, and throwing a total of 106 pitches. STFX did not commit an Error in the game. For SMU, Larry Barton (2 for 4 with a Double and an RBI) and Kyle Sampson (2 for 4 with a Run Scored) led the way. Spencer Murray, Brock Townsend, and Logan MacNeil each chipped in with a Hit of their own. Spencer Murray took the Loss, giving up 8 Hits and 4 Earned Runs over 6 innings, while Walking 3, Striking Out 8, and throwing a total of 117 pitches. St. Mary’s committed 2 Errors in the game.

In Game 2, STFX came out victorious again with a 9 to 7 Win over SMU. The STFX offense was led by Kyle Moore (2 for 3 with a Double, 3 RBI’s, and 3 Runs Scored), Dominick Tremblay (2 for 3 with a Walk and 2 Runs Scored), Lucas Fraser (2 for 4 with a Double, a Walk, and 3 Runs Scored), and Jack Walsh (1 for 4 with a Double, a Walk, 4 RBI’s, and a Run Scored). Starter Jonathan Tremblay threw 3.2 innings for the Win, giving up 2 Earned Runs and 3 Hits while Walking 4, Striking Out 1, and throwing a total of 66 pitches. STFX committed 3 Errors in the game. SMU had contributions from several hitters including Oscar Kozariz (1 for 1 with 2 Walks, an RBI, and 2 Runs Scored), Logan Raftus (1 for 1 with a Walk and 2 Runs Scored), Shane Doyle (1 for 2 with 2 Walks and a Run Score), and Brock Townsend (1 for 2 with 2 Walks and a Run Scored). Reliever Kyle Sampson took over from Starter Brock Townsend and took the Loss, giving up 3 Hits and 5 Runs (only 2 Earned) over 2 1/3 innings, while Walking 4, Striking Out 3, and throwing a total of 55 pitches. SMU committed 3 Errors in the game.
